Visit to Another World

We are visiting another world for a few days.  One that is close but, sadly, this Queen does not rule.  But it's a nice world.

It's very quiet here.  And it's spring and beautiful.  Bulbs up and coming.  Trees budding.  And one magnolia- looking one (not a gardener-type) has beautiful white blossoms before it gets leaves.  There are lots and lots of birds:  goldfinches, house finches, painted finches, cardinals, 2 kinds of nuthatches, 4 kinds of woodpeckers, blue jays, sparrows, robins and a hawk.  Probably others that I forgot just now.  They are so beautiful to watch.  And all the birds and little animals are feeling 'frisky' now, too.  I almost feel like I'm in a sanctuary.

There are some pests -- the non-human kind -- squirrels, raccoons that regularly raid everything, a pretty red fox came trotting down the other day......All of these make the resident large dog try to go thru and window, glass, screen and all..  Quite a fuss.

But what I've realised is that this is not home.  Home is my little world.  Where mostly I know where things are and what they are.

But, hey, there are still a couple of mysteries.  Never did find the VIP PAPERS that I so efficiently put away before the move and  now cannot find them.  Of course the State of Indiana wants them all to make me and my car officially here.  So I'm not, yet.  I guess I'm an illegal...........Know I'm not an alien though!

Signed up for a beginning knitting class.  Now some of you know that the Queen already knits.

So, you ask, why a beginning class?  Because it covers much more than what I would have called 'beginning'.  We smuggly thought the first class would be a little boring.  Ah, contraire, mon ami.  Learned to knit the 'continental' way.  Very awkward but we are practising.  For those of you who knit, the yarn is held in the left hand instead of your right.......

And we are getting out and about and will, eventually, meet some 'friend', not just acquaintance, candidates.  Haven't met anyone yet who isn't nice, though.  There are probably some rotten ones out there like everywhere, but so far they are stayed out of my world.....

Need to practice knitting now.
